Mercury Direct in Libra 2021

MERCURY DIRECT IN LIBRA.png

Mercury retrogrades symbolize a time when we reevaluate, revisit, or reconsider things associated with the astrological symbolism of the planet Mercury and the sign it occupies. Over the past three weeks, Mercury has been retrograding from 25º to 10º of Libra since September 26, 2021. Once Mercury returns to 10º07’ Libra on the morning of October 18th, it will begin to move forward again through the zodiac. The post-shadow period is the length of time it takes Mercury to move from 10º07’ to 25º28’ Libra. Mercury retrograde-related events tend to resolve or finalize as Mercury progresses through the post-shadow period, which ends on November 2nd.

Mercury affects communications, commute, and commerce while it is retrograding. In the sign of Libra, Mercurial symbolism related to social, relational, and civil situations were the focus. The middle degrees of Libra are also related to contracts, which can look like court cases. My article on the Libra New Moon talks more about that.

Some notable Mercury retrograde in Libra events that occurred are the R. Kelly court case ruling (Sept 27th), the “Britney vs Spears” documentary release (Sept 28th), the huge social media outages (Oct 4th), the IATSE nationwide strike vote (Oct 4th), the $17,000 Bitcoin price boom, the Uber ride share recovery, and rising U.S. economic inflation.

People with Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces rising in their natal chart, or people with Mercury as their timelord this year were most affected by this retrograde period. It also more directly affected people with placements at 10º to 25º of Libra in their birth chart.

The next Mercury retrograde begins January 14, 2022 at 10º20’ Aquarius and will last until Feb 3, 2022.
