Sagittarius Season 2021

The first day of Sagittarius season is Nov 21, 2021. That’s when the Sun enters the zodiacal sign of Sagittarius and will transit there until the solstice on Dec 21. As Sagittarius season progresses, the Sun’s declination approaches its most southerly point on the Tropic of Capricorn. This creates shorter days in the northern hemisphere and longer days in the southern hemisphere.

Even if you weren’t born during Sagittarius season, you might still have placements in this sign. Check to see if you have Sagittarius placements in your birth chart. The ruler of this sign is Jupiter. Those with Jupiter in Sagittarius will relate a lot to this energy.

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF SAGITTARIUS SEASON?

When the Sun transits this sign, the collective experiences Sagittarian energy. This includes things like religiosity, story-telling, travel, bringing people together, optimistic ideas, and sharing positivity. In addition to the centaur-archer, the Sagittarius archetype is a jovial larger-than-life character who teaches, preaches, or inspires. During this season of religious holidays, many of us travel during this time of year, meet up with family, and our waist-size tends to expand in typical Jupiterian fashion. We get excited for the new year and often make plans for how to broaden our own horizons.

Modern astrology associates this sign with the ninth house of belief systems, foreign lands, and higher knowledge. Medical astrology associates Sagittarius with the hips, thighs, glutes, leg muscles, liver, pituitary gland, and sciatic nerve.

As we move through this season, pay attention to the Sagittarian themes that present themselves in your own life and in the news.

NOTABLE PLANETARY EVENTS

Sun, Mercury, and Mars will all move over the South Node as they enter this sign. The South Node is sitting at 1º Sagittarius. The South Node is a point that can act as a drain and make things vanish. These transits could create a loss of vitality or a lack of ability to think straight. Be wise about how you handle this energy on the days that these planets conjoin the South Node.

Mercury will conjoin and switch places with the Sun on Nov 28. This technically would turn it into an evening star for then next two months, but will stay invisible for most of that time due to Mercury’s close proximity to the Sun. As a whole, it might start to feel like we are synthesizing and optimizing everything we’ve learned recently even if we feel a bit burnt out.

As the New Moon forms near the nodal axis on December 3, it will create a total solar eclipse at 12º Sagittarius. The Moon will pass between the Earth and Sun, casting a shadow onto the Earth’s surface. The Moon will totally cover up the Sun because the Moon will be at its closest perigee to the Earth. However, this will only be visible to Antarctica and parts of the southern hemisphere. This event could correspond to any notable events that occurred during the previous eclipses in Gemini or Sagittarius that happened on May 26 or June 10, 2021. They could even correspond to the eclipse events from the previous year-June 5 or November 30, 2020. Think back to any notable life events from those dates and see if you notice those themes hit a turning point during this eclipse.

Mars enters Sagittarius on December 13, the same day Mercury leaves and enters Capricorn. This shift could make us feel like we are ready to take action on the plans we’ve been developing since late November.

Sagittarius season closes with a Full Moon in Gemini on December 18, bringing the manifestations from the June 10 eclipse in Gemini to fruition.
